KeyInvest’s Funeral Bond provides a way to plan and save for future funeral expenses. When the investor passes away, the bond is paid out to cover funeral-related costs, easing the financial burden on loved ones.

Funeral bonds may offer significant social security benefits. Recipients of means-tested government payments may qualify for higher payments due to the exemption that generally applies under the Assets and Income tests. Unlike funeral insurance, there are no age or health restrictions.

It’s more than an investment, it’s a way to ensure wishes are carried out and support family members through a challenging time.

The KeyInvest Funeral Bond has four Investment Options to select from:

  1. Capital Guaranteed Fund
  2. Conservative Index Fund
  3. Balanced Index Fund
  4. Growth Index Fund

Investors can switch between the Conservative Index, Balanced Index and Growth Index Funds or into the Capital Guaranteed Fund.

If invested in the Capital Guaranteed Fund you are not permitted to switch out into any other Fund under any circumstances.

Funeral bonds provide a way for individuals to plan and save for their funerals in advance, easing the financial burden on their loved ones during a challenging time.

An investor can make contributions over time in lump-sum payments or regular instalments. When the investor passes away, the money in the bond is paid out to cover funeral-related costs, such as caskets, cemetery plots, cremation, and other funeral services.

The funds can be assigned and paid directly to the funeral director, simplifying the process for the family. Unlike funeral insurance, there are no age or health restrictions applicable.

Funeral bonds provide reassurance and make it easier on loved ones to say goodbye and grieve. The unique tax-treatment of Funeral Bonds means they may also provide additional financial benefits depending on the circumstances.

KeyInvest is an independent member-owned mutual friendly society, dually regulated by the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) as a life insurer, and the Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC) as a financial product provider.

Founded in 1878 as the Independent Order of Odd Fellows South Australia (IOOFSA), KeyInvest has a long and proud history providing a range of services having operated as a credit union, retirement village developer and operator, and mortgage broker, but funds management has always been at the core.

In 2023, KeyInvest became the first friendly society in Australia to raise additional Tier 1 capital which partially funded a 50% interest in non-bank lender, Keystone Capital Ltd.
